Mysteries … in boxes, bags and other containers

April 22, 2009

A dear friend gave me the complete series of Nero Wolfe today.  Just because.  (Thank you! dear, sweet, lovely friend)

A day or so ago I watched a TED lecture by J.J. Abrams about the wonders of the mystery box.  How the things you have to imaging yourself are better than the things that you are handed.

I guess that works for a lot of different aspects of our lives.  The wonder is in our imaginations and the unknown.

This actually explains a lot of what I like and what I don’t like.  I’d rather have something be ambiguous than for it to be explained badly.  I like my loose ends tied up in a bow but not by someone with butter fingers.

So – here’s to the unknown.  Just think about it for a little while.  I think you’ll agree.
