I didn’t have to go to the store…

December 19, 2009

I made stock from the roasted bones of the Thanksgiving turkey breast… it’s been in the fridge for a few weeks.  Today I decided to use it all up.

I pulled things from the pantry, the fridge and the freezer.  I didn’t have to go the store for anything.  To tell the truth… I’m kind of scared that this was sitting in my kitchen waiting to be made.

3 yellow onions… diced.

Don’t you have a few boxes of Arborio rice in your pantry?  And a bottle of white wine somewhere in the abode?  Maybe your stock isn’t homemade but I’m sure you have some kind of stock or broth at the very least.

Ladle by ladle the adventure begins.

I buy fresh time and freeze it for later use, don’t you?

Okay – maybe no one else keeps Parmesan rinds in their freezer.

And I’ll admit that keeping the meat of a whole roast chicken in a vacuum sealed bag in the freezer is a little beyond normal.

But hey – now there’s dinner… for a whole lot of people.
