Andy Griffith is an amazingly brilliant bad guy

October 3, 2011

Tonight’s Netflix was Elia Kazan’s A Face in the Crowd.

And may I just say…. Oh My GOD!

It’s not a nice film.  It’s not a comfortable film.  But it’s a real film.  It’s so insanely current even though it was made in 1957.  And the star, Andy Griffith, just pulled you in and showed you how rotten a tv star can be at their core.  It was shocking.  Andy Griffith to me is OPIE’S DAD for goodness sake.  How on earth could Sheriff Andy Taylor be evil?

Apparently he’s just that good of an actor.  And Kazan is just that good of a director.

Damn.

Just Damn.

You should go watch this movie.  Like now.
