and what have we learned from this?

October 5, 2011

Okay – so yeah – I have a passport… it just expired last year.

Oops.

Apparently 10 years goes by like a blink of an eye.  And these days you must have a valid passport to go to Canada.  Like I am … on FRIDAY.

But if you are like me and have access to the local passport office (mine’s in San Francisco and easily accessible via BART) and have a boss who is very understanding (Walter is a prince!) then you can go in with proof that you are flying within 14 days and they will work small miracles for you without charging thing insane prices that online websites charge for the same service.

Note to self – next time you are going to a government agency, think about the airport security rules and remove your pepper spray and pocket knife before leaving the house.  I had to find a very nice guard two buildings over to hold on to them while I finished my business.  I love helpful people.

I just have to go back tomorrow and I will have a new passport.  And this time I’m going to create some kind of reminder somewhere so that in 10 years I will not be doing this again.
